Addressing the Global Challenge of Pediculosis and Pesticide Resistance: A Review of Current and Emerging Lice Treatment Modalities, from Chemical Pediculicides and Essential Oils to Non-Chemical Approaches like Wet Combing and Heated Air Devices

Lice infestations (pediculosis) remain a prevalent global public health issue, frequently affecting school-aged children and necessitating effective, reliable treatment. The traditional use of chemical pediculicides, such as permethrin, is increasingly complicated by the development of pesticide resistance in lice populations, leading to treatment failures and the need for new solutions.

Effective treatment now often involves a multi-pronged approach, which may combine prescription or over-the-counter topical treatments with rigorous non-chemical methods. Wet combing with a fine-toothed nit comb is highly recommended to physically remove lice and nits, emphasizing the importance of a second treatment nine to ten days later to kill newly hatched nymphs.

Bows 'N Bullets

I believe we have an obligation to learn and educate ourselves on how to protect ourselves and our loved ones from any harm. Sometimes we have a hard time learning from our loved ones and here at BNB, we will provide a safe and non-judgmental learning environment for you. Being around like-minded women brings a whole different level of sisterhood and friendship. I created BNB knowing that there might be others like me. I hope to see and meet you at our next event.
